About Us

How it all began!

In 2014 Jessica, our Executive Director, was introduced to a national nonprofit who was dedicated to offering peer support for moms suffering from perinatal mood and anxiety disorders(PMADs). It was all very new to her, but after meeting so many other women who had already walked in her shoes, she realized she wasn’t alone. There were others who completely understood everything she had been through after the birth of her son. She was amazed and inspired. To help just one person was her goal. To let ONE other woman know, she was not alone and it would get better.

The advocacy work continued.

In 2015, a private little support group was created on Facebook. It was small, and slow growing. But it was something. A place for moms to find solace. A place where moms would realize, WOW I’m not the only one. I am NOT ALONE.

By word of mouth, and random conversations in parking lots and grocery stores, the group began to grow. Then along came two amazing Social Workers. Rosalinda and Ruth! They had decided to start in-person support group meetings for moms. Something this area so desperately needed. Utilizing our private group, word of mouth and LOTS of fliers, their support group grew and grew.

The work continued. Reaching new moms. Advocating. Finding resources. Making house calls. You name it.

By January of 2022, that private little support group had over 300 members. And was full of women who had been through so much and had made it to the other side. They themselves wanted to begin helping others.

After doing a lot of soul searching, A LOT of reading and realizing she STILL wasn’t alone in her fight, Jessica took the leap. Filed the paperwork for nonprofit status. With a group of women supporting her every time she hit “submit”!

Sarah, Robin, Alex and Beth were there every step of the way. Along with those amazing Social Workers Rosalinda and Ruth. And not to mention a group of volunteers from all walks of life ready to help in any way they could.

We are thankful and grateful to begin this journey. We hope to reach as many women and their families as possible. To let them know they are not alone, and it will get better. Breathe Mama!
